Trade, banks & auctions
Use local services, sell goods, certify items and understand auction charges.
Local services
Banking, the market, collection and property rentals require their nearby service NPC. Your carried gold is different from gold stored in a bank or waiting in collection. Local balances belong to the relevant town; changing worlds does not carry a character's possessions into another economy.
NPCs pay fixed posted prices per eligible item type, rather than scaling their offer with quality or condition. Eligible ordinary goods can be sold without a finite daily buying quota; equipment demand is limited. Supplies arrive through the shop's stock schedule, so reconnecting does not restock an empty shop.
Trade with another character
Review the actual items, quantities, animals and gold in the trade window. Each participant accepts the current offer; changing the offer invalidates the old agreement. Quality estimates and public certificates are different forms of information. An inspection service can be traded without handing a private estimate to everyone.
List an auction
Auction items require a valid certificate. Getting one from a capable player or through a separate certification service can avoid the auction-house surcharge. If the item needs auction-house certification, that service is performed when it is listed and a fee is due under the terms below.
The opening bid may equal the listed minimum. Once a funded bid exists, the next bid must exceed it by the required increment. Buyers must fund their bid; a seller cannot cancel after the first funded bid.
Auction-house certification fees
The usual certification charge is 20%, rounded up to whole gold. A listing retains the fee terms quoted when it is posted.
| Outcome | Certification charge |
|---|---|
| Sale by winning bid or buyout | 20% of the actual sale proceeds is deducted. |
| Cancel before the first bid, with a buyout | Pay 20% of the buyout before the certified item returns. |
| Cancel before the first bid, without a buyout | Pay 20% of the opening minimum bid before the certified item returns. |
| Expire unsold | The same return fee is due at collection: buyout basis, or opening minimum when no buyout exists. |
| List an item with a valid prior certificate | No auction-house certification surcharge. |
For example, a 100-gold sale produces a 20-gold certification charge. A cancelled, unbid listing with a 150-gold buyout owes 30 gold even if its opening bid was lower. The listing fee is separate and is not refunded by cancellation. Certification was already provided, so allowing the listing to expire does not create a free certificate.
Collect and transport
Successful purchases, unsold lots and recovered possessions may wait at local collection. Unpaid certification can lock the returned lot and its nested contents until the fee is paid. The collection view explains the amount due.
Think about weight before collecting a large load. A backpack does not increase the character's maximum carrying allowance. Use a cart when necessary, and remember that carried gold can drop on death.
