Animals, bees & carts
Care for owned animals, keep colonies and move heavier loads with carts.
Ownership and handling
Bought or tamed animals belong to the purchasing or taming character, not to the property where they stand. Owners can approve individual handlers and grant their current club handling access. Permission to handle an animal does not grant permission to steal or kill it.
Read the animal's condition and care information. Care continues while the owner is offline: condition declines without care, and prolonged neglect can kill the animal. The creature pages list feed rations and which species can pull carts.
Stocked troughs
A stocked trough can feed nearby eligible owned animals while their owners are offline. Each feeding consumes actual supplies. The character who stocked that food earns credit when it is consumed, not when it is placed in the trough. If that happens while the supplier is away, a return summary reports the gained practice.
This is an explicit exception to ordinary active-only skill practice. Simply waiting offline does not train every skill, and an empty trough cannot care for animals.
Beekeeping
Craft an empty hive, then buy a colony separately from the animal keeper or capture a wild summer colony. The colony remains character-owned with handling permissions and a care schedule. Carried colonies and packed hives still need care, but do not produce honey while packed or stored.
A placed outdoor hive produces honey over time while conditions permit. Rain and cold reduce foraging; snow and very cold weather stop it. Harvest the completed honey and continue care. A dead colony does not become a free source of ongoing honey.
Handcarts and animal-drawn carts
A cart holds a larger physical load than your own pack. Its contents keep their quality, condition and weight. Only the owner and approved handlers can use it, even outside protected property. Park and dismount before performing work that needs your hands.
Horses, donkeys, cows, buffalo and oxen can pull carts. An authorized handler can lead the animal on foot or ride in the cart. The animal and cart still need suitable clearance; ownership or riding does not bypass obstacles and property permissions.
Cart visibility always follows its owner. It disappears when that owner leaves the world, even if a handler was using it, and returns where it was left when the owner returns. If that position is blocked, nearby clear ground is used. Combat or murder restrictions can keep an owner's body present after disconnecting.
Travel with animals
Boat passage can include eligible animals selected at the operator. Check the fare and boarding conditions before departing. Travel does not transfer ownership or stop the animals' care deadlines.
